Spitiko brings a genuine slice of Greece to Madrid’s Chamberí district. I first tried it through delivery when I was looking for some good quality gyros and I was immediately hooked.
After ordering a few times at home, I decided to visit the restaurant and have dinner there.
Location / Environment
Spitiko is located in Chamberí, an area that mixes residential calm with dining variety. The neighbourhood feels local rather than touristy. The space itself is welcoming: modest décor, warm lighting, wood tables and friendly staff who clearly care about the food rather than the frills.

Spitiko – Menu
At Spitiko, the focus is firmly on Greek standards done well. The gyros is made in-house, something that is often not the case even if you are in Greece. Here, you will not find the usual frozen variety; it’s made fresh by the staff. The pita bread is also made at Spitiko and is not bought from a store.
The philosophy is staying true to its name, Spitiko, which is the Greek word for home-made.
Spitiko – Food
As a starter, we got the Greek fries with cheese and tzatziki sauce. We also got an extra portion of tzatziki, which is a Greek yoghurt and cucumber dip and one of the things you should always try in a Greek restaurant.

Pita with pork gyros is a must-try. The quality of the gyros is what makes this dish shine, together with the home-made pita bread. It’s served with lettuce, onion, tomato, and tzatziki sauce, but you should also add a few French fries.

Mousakas is a traditional oven-baked dish with eggplant, potato, minced meat, and bechamel sauce on top. A very solid version from Spitiko if you are looking for traditional Greek food in Madrid.

We also tried the mixed grill, which included pork gyros, sausage, and soutzoukaki, which is a type of Greek long meatball. There were also fries, Greek salad, and grilled vegetables.

Conclusion
Spitiko doesn’t compete in the fine-dining arena; instead, it thrives on straightforward, comforting Greek cuisine in Madrid done with sincerity and deserves a spot on your list. It’s perfect for a relaxed dinner or a group meal when you crave something Mediterranean but not trendy. Friendly service, honest cooking and a setting where you feel like you’ve found something local make it a quietly dependable choice. I prefer the food here compared to Egeo, which is another popular Greek restaurant in Madrid with similar choices.
