While I always believed Madrid has an amazing food scene, brunch was never the city’s strong suit. Nevertheless, Madrid’s breakfast and brunch game is slowly evolving and although there are still many places that are underwhelming, the places below are the spots worth getting out of bed for. This is a list of the best brunch spots in Madrid that I regularly visit.
1. Watts Cantina

Half brunch bar, half all-day hangout, Watts Cantina in La Latina brings a Californian twist to Madrid mornings. Expect pancakes with crispy bacon, breakfast burritos, and delicious pastries. When the sun sets, the natural wine starts flowing, creating a seamless transition from brunch to bar life. My personal favourite breakfast/brunch spot in Madrid.
Address: Calle Don Pedro 4, La Latina, 28005 Madrid
2. Carmencita Brunch

Carmencita successfully marries American classics and European flair. With 3 locations in the city, it’s often crowded, loud, and absolutely essential. Try one of the many Eggs Benedict variations, and don’t forget to add one of the spicy salsas available at each table for some extra kick.
Address: Calle de San Vicente Ferrer 57, Malasaña, 28015 Madrid
3. El Gordito

El Gordito has been getting more and more hype since it opened its doors in 2024. A menu accommodating both breakfast, bruch or lunch with inspiration from around the world. The sandwich with chicken milanesa is my favourite thing to order there, although their pancakes are quite good as well. Very busy with long lines over the weekend.
Address: Calle de la Palma 41, Centro, 28004 Madrid
4. Sisi Bagels

Craving a New York moment in Madrid? Sisi Bagels delivers. The bagels are chewy, golden, and stacked high with fillings — smoked salmon, turkey, and more. What sets it apart are the various bagel options. Apart from plain, there are also many others, including cheese, poppy seeds, sesame, cinnamon and jalapeno bagels, which is my personal favourite.
Address: Calle del Espíritu Santo 38, Centro, 28004, Madrid
5. Bucólico

The city’s most relaxed spot might just be Bucólico, with its rustic interior and serene vibe. The menu balances comfort and freshness, think avocado toasts and soft-poached eggs. Its version of Eggs Benedict with their hollandaise sauce with red miso and Sichuan pepper is what makes it one of the best brunch spots in Madrid. Expect a queue if you visit over the weekend.
Address: Calle de Barbieri 4, Centro, 28004 Madrid
6. Alma Nomad Bakery

The smell of the freshly baked pastry is what lures you in. Alma Nomad Bakery has a variety of creative and delicious savory and sweet pastries. There is a small counter to eat there, but you can always grab as many pastries as you want and eat them at home.
Address: Calle de Sta. Feliciana 10, Chamberí, 28010 Madrid
7. Molino Manuela

A Mexican bakery for those who crave conchas, pan de elote and other Mexican pastries. Molino Manuela has only a small counter within its small location, yet you will always find it’s busy. On the weekend, it offers one savory Mexican dish for brunch, which changes every week. Don’t miss it!
Address:Calle de García de Paredes 33, Chamberí, 28010 Madrid
8.Panem

Here you will find the best croissant in Madrid and possibly one of the best you will ever try. Panem has a variety of sweet pastries and bread. While there is no sitting space, the pastries are really worth it. Pick up a variety and enjoy them at home or in Retiro park nearby with a beverage of your choice.
Address: Calle de Fernán González 42, Retiro, 28009 Madrid
9. The Diner

If your idea of a proper brunch involves fried chicken, waffles, loaded fries and sandwiches, The Diner deserves a spot on your list of best brunch spots in Madrid. Located in La Latina, it delivers a casual American-style diner experience that works particularly well when you want something indulgent rather than elegant. The chicken and waffles are the standout, balancing crispy, juicy chicken with a soft waffle, while the Bubbles and Fries is exactly the sort of chaotic brunch order that makes perfect sense once it lands on the table.
Address: Cost. de San Andrés 20, Centro, 28005 Madrid
10. Obrar Madrid

For a pastry-focused breakfast or brunch, Obrar Madrid has quickly become one of the city’s most talked-about spots. Founded by former fine-dining pastry chefs, this small Chamberí bakery treats baking as a craft, specialising in seasonal pastries and expertly laminated doughs. Expect flaky croissants, rich pain au chocolat, and indulgent creations like their brioche Bikini toast with prosciutto cotto and Havarti, as well as signature sweets such as the chocolate-hazelnut Galleta Obrar. The minimalist space keeps the focus on the pastries, while specialty coffee plays a supporting role. Prices are slightly above the Madrid bakery average, but the technique and quality make it a worthwhile stop. Just try to avoid peak weekend hours when queues often form.
Address: Calle de Galileo 9, Chamberí, 28015 Madrid
11. La Materia

La Matería Café is proof that brunch in Madrid doesn’t need excess to be memorable. Specialising in mate and 100% gluten-free food, this Malasaña spot offers a calm, thoughtful alternative to louder brunch addresses. On weekends, the brunch menu keeps things simple and well executed: the croissant Olímpico is comforting and satisfying, while South American sweets like alfajores and cinnamon rolls round things off nicely. Add knowledgeable, genuinely warm service — especially when the owner is around — and you get a relaxed brunch experience that prioritises quality, inclusivity and calm over spectacle. A strong option if you’re after something different from the usual brunch clichés.
