The Window is a fairly new spot for fried chicken. It was established by two brothers, one of whom has a culinary background, and it offers primarily takeaway and delivery options. The focus is on the quality of the ingredients and the flavor combinations.
For me, it’s always hard to pick between a regular burger and a chicken sandwich when I am in a burger place. At least here, there is no dilemma. All your options are with chicken.
Location/Environment
The Window is located at Plaza de San Ildefonso in Malasaña. It’s a small and very simple spot with white walls and bright red letters with pink tones in its menu signs.

While you can choose to have your burger served in the small spot’s counters, I chose to take it away and eat it at home.
Menu
The menu mostly focuses on fried chicken sandwiches with 4 different options available. Apart from fries, it offers the option to order fried chicken “popcorn” bites. The restaurant also offers a variety of in-house-made sauces.
The Window – Food
The Classic has all the classic combinations of a chicken sandwich. Potato bun, in-house made crispy chicken, pickles and chicken mayo. The chicken was thick and juicy in all the sandwiches, although not particularly crispy. The chicken mayo with spices and black pepper was the star for me and the reason this was my favourite burger.

The Spicy (of course, I wouldn’t miss it), has the same type of potato bun and crispy chicken, but the chicken is dipped in spicy sauce. On top, it comes with pickled onion, ranch sauce and pickles. The sauce was nice, although not particularly spicy. Nevertheless, good balance with the yoghurt base ranch and the pickled onions.

The Window to me was a variation of the classic with onions and the house-made window sauce (similar to honey mustard) instead of mayo. The main difference here is the sauce. If you like honey mustard, it’s for you, I prefer The Classic.

The fries are served with the house seasoning which is slightly spicy. They were nice, although they could have been crispier.

The chocolate chip cookie was average. Chewy and the chocolate was mostly in the centre of the cookie.

Conclusion
I have come to really appreciate all the places that prioritise good quality ingredients and creating as much as they can in-house. It’s a refreshing contrast compared to industrialised kitchens that produce thousands of burgers every day. The Window makes a strong effort in that regard.
