Qiqihary Korean BBQ is Madrid’s loud, smoky love letter to tabletop grilling — a place where charcoal, sizzling fat and fast service collide. Since opening a flagship restaurant in Chueca, the brand has spread to shopping-centre outposts, and its viral reputation is built as much on theatrical grills as on reliably generous portions.

I visited with a friend for lunch on a weekday.

Location / Environment

The original Chueca restaurant is a convenient central spot that funnels a steady stream of neighbourhood crowds and curious visitors. Qiqihary Korean BBQ also has other locations. The setup is captivating, bright lights, neon signs, booths with built-in grills and upbeat playlists. It’s lively by design and, yes, you will smell faintly of smoke afterwards.

Service is fast and helpful, but not really personal.

Qiqihary Korean BBQ – Menu

Qiqihary Korean BBQ centres on tabletop grilling: cuts of beef, pork and chicken, marinated options, seafood and a parade of sides (kimchi, pickles, rice, salads) designed to be shared and wrapped in lettuce. There are also cooked dumplings, stir-fries and appetizers you can order (those you don’t have to cook!).

The price varies between 20€ – 30€ per person, which includes most of the food (there are some premium dishes that you need to pay an extra 1€ – 3€ if you order them), but does not include drinks.

Is the food unlimited?

Theoretically, no, but practically, you can’t really eat as much as you are allowed (there are always exceptions, I know). The table slots are 1.5 hours for each reservation. Each person can order up to 5 dishes every 10 minutes through a tablet that you have at your table. That means that each person can get up to 45 dishes in the allotted time.

Once you get seated, you will immediately be prompted to order your drinks and the staff will add some standard sauces and sides for the Korean BBQ.

After that, you can keep ordering every 10 minutes. Once you submit an order, you have a clock counting down the time you have until you can order again. Orders are served quite fast, in a matter of a few minutes.

The staff will turn on the grill and will prompt you to add oil through a bottle that’s on the table and will bring the meat, fish and vegetables that you order for grilling. That part is fun as you get to cook it the way you want, but it does take someone dedicating a bit of time and effort to it. Not to worry though, there is plenty of time to eat as much as you want.

Qiqihary Korean BBQ - meats
Meats, seafood and vegetables

We had A LOT of food. We tried most of the meats, some of the ready-made dishes, sides and appetizers as well as the desserts. Below you can find some of my favorite dishes:

  • Chicken with lemon sauce – Crispy, juicy and with a nice sauce
  • Sweet and sour pork – We ordered this twice because we liked it so much
  • Kimichi
  • Cheese wrapped in veal – Delicious
  • Marinated chicken – Tasty marinade almost reminded me a Greek gyros.
  • Beef with black pepper – Properly peppery, which I liked
  • Chistorra sausage – A nice, slightly spicy sausage from Spain
  • Enoki mushrooms – Really great side for the BBQ
  • Mini profiteroles (yes, there is a dessert option as well)

You should of course try as much as you can, but those were my personal favourites.

Conclusion

Qiqihary Korean BBQ is exactly what it sets out to be: a convivial, charcoal-forward Korean barbecue experience in the centre of Madrid. It’s well-suited for groups and casual celebrations. Be realistic: it’s not fine dining, the quality is not extremely high, plates arrive fast, and the room hums, but that’s part of its charm. This place is a ridiculous value for money option and deserves a spot on your list — just don’t wear your Sunday best.
