Welcome to the Ministry of Foodies, your passport to a gastronomic journey through the heart of Madrid and eventually throughout the world.

As an expat living in Madrid, it has been challenging to find local food and restaurant reviews from the perspective of someone who has not lived in Spain most of their life, yet still knows and loves the city. Ministry of Foodies will try to bridge this gap, providing a unique perspective from a travel enthusiast also coming from a Mediterranean country.

Every meal tells a story, and i am excited to share these stories with everyone (ask my friends who regularly hear me talk for hours about my food adventures).

From hidden gems tucked away in all neighborhoods to Michelin-star restaurants, i will try to show you the best restaurants Madrid offers. Dine-in, take away, delivery, everything is game for the Ministry of Foodies.

My main objectives through this blog are:

Variety Unveiled

I am a person who gets equally excited about food trucks with a great spicy fried chicken sandwich and a Michelin-star restaurant mastering a warm scallop tartare with Osetra caviar. Whether you crave the authenticity of low-scale take-out joints or the exquisite artistry of Michelin-star restaurants, the Ministry of Foodies will guide you in the whole spectrum of these dining experiences in Madrid.

Remain Objective

The reason i started this blog is because i enjoy good food and discovering the best restaurants in Madrid, where i currently live. To remain objective in my reviews, I personally pay for the restaurant visits. This allows me to remain truthful and share my opinion without the pressure to always give only a positive view. Everything published here will be fully based on my opinion and my experience based on one or more visits to a restaurant or trying specific products.

Eating Solo? Embrace it!

Personal opinion – While eating with company is great, there is also the joy of solo dining and i believe it’s an adventure in itself. I will highlight great spots for solo dinners, people who might be travelling alone or enjoying eating by themselves from time to time (like i do)!
